Twelve Students and the March for Life

On January 16th twelve girls who attend Regina Mater ranging in age from thirteen to eighteen boarded an early flight for Virginia. We were all excited for the March for Life in D.C. that we would be participating in for the first time. Once we arrived in D.C. we filed into the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. Everyone was moved by the artifacts, stories, and pictures. It did not escape us that we would be marching for the same cause as hundreds of Allies in World War Two: the protection of life. We noticed several parallels between the atrocities committed in World War Two and the practices...

Making Daily Choices for Life

It is timely to reflect on how the choices we make daily contribute to a culture of life. #1 Respect the life that is in front of you with kind and encouraging words while trying our best to employ the “10 positive comments to every 1 negative comment” rule. #2 Be kind to people who seem “different”. Each person is a precious child of God and has Jesus in there somewhere. Usually if God has placed a person in our path we have a chance to learn something if our heart is open. The Little Way

After reading How to Build Spiritual Habits for the New Year, I was asked “Is sainthood actually attainable? Do we have to be superheroes? Do we have to wait for Pope Francis to officially call us one?” At a recent funeral I attended for a sweet five year old boy, a priest provided a homily with telling words expressing the idea of sainthood. And his description of sainthood reminded me of the “little way” of St. Therese of Lisieux: “When we are born, we have a mission regardless of how long we live on earth. Live and embrace your mission on earth and in heaven. This...

How to Build Spiritual Habits for the New Year

With the turning of the calendar to a new year, my thoughts always turn to how I am to better myself. The typical list of resolutions went through my head again this year – eat healthier, exercise more, budget better … work toward my own sainthood.  That’s when I put on the brakes, trying to squeeze out the origin of that thought. Work toward my own sainthood? Definitely not on the typical list, sounds a little self-serving, but when it comes down to it, what would be a greater failure in life than not becoming a saint? We make so many temporal resolutions. This year, let’s...
